In seventh grade math, students will identify and apply proportional relationships including learning to calculate tax, discounts, and simple interest. Along with this, operations with rational numbers will continue to be a focus which includes negative numbers. More algebra will come into play as students work with expressions and are introduced to linear equations. Students will create and solve problems using scale drawings and find area, surface area, and volume of two- and three-dimensional shapes. Working with data will allow students to find relationships between data sets and draw conclusions from random samples.
